One Day At a Time

February is almost over! I dread the long winter days. The lack of warmth and sunshine makes me irritable...just ask my husband. The only way I have been able to get through this winter is by taking it one day at a time. If I can just make the days seem shorter, then the winter will go by quickly. The only problem with that is that Sayla and Brynna seem to grow up too fast.

Ever since the nursery has been finished and the girls are in their own cribs, life has been a little easier. We all feel like we have a little more space between each other. They've been able to have more tummy time on the floor, and since then they have taken off! Literally! Brynna started scooting a lot more, doing the army crawl toward her toys. Shortly after, Sayla began to do the same thing. Every once in a while, Brynna got on her hands and knees for a second and fell back down. But today she really wanted this sock lying on the floor, so she pushed herself up onto her hands and knees, like it was nothing, and rocked back and forth for about 10 seconds. Woo hoo!!!! I was hoping there would be at least one major milestone Brynna would reach before Sayla. Coincidentally, I got it on video. I tried to video Sayla playing with the dog, but got her scooting toward the camera instead. Then I tried to video Brynna scooting (you know...to make it fair) but I got her balancing on her hands and knees instead! It's the little things in life. Someone I know used to say "Great art happens on the way to something else." I wouldn't say my video is art, but the point is that better things do happen when you have other intentions. Yeah, life sucks sometimes, but it also has this fantastic way of one-upping you to your benefit.

Also, this morning I was feeding Brynna when Sayla woke up. I brought Sayla in, and they both smiled at each other from ear to ear. I couldn't believe it! I leaned Sayla toward Brynna, just to make sure she wasn't smiling at me, and Sayla grabbed her head to hug it, and Brynna kissed her all over the cheek (basically just licked her). I have never seen them love on each other so much! Maybe they miss each other now that they don't sleep in the same crib.

So today has been a great day full of big steps, happy babies and convenient videoing. Today I will just soak in the best stuff of life and keep looking forward to the beautiful weather. I have to try everything to beat this seasonal "stuff", if you will.
